Netflix is company that offers online flat rate DVD and Blu-ray Disc rental-by-mail and video streaming in the United States (www.freedictionary.com). Netflix has out beat companies such as blockbuster and Hollywood video. It’s cheap and efficient and in an economy like this, Netflix is making progress. Yet Redbox has been catching up. Redbox Company is working together with Verizon which is also a well-known company that works with telephones, cable, technology etc. In the article it talks about how the two companies and their plan against Netflix. Even though details aren’t all out yet Redbox did say a year ago that were planning on combining their company with someone else and trying to form a partnership. It is now known that the partnership is being formed with Verizon, who will allow everyone to use this not only their customers. This will allow more costumers and more business will be provided to the both of these companies.
I personally think that the partnership is a great idea. At first I didn’t understand why Redbox would choose Verizon for a company to be partners with, but then I realized all the things that Verizon has a part in. Verizon is a major company that is involved with a lot of different aspects of technology. Both of these companies can thrive on each other and make more business and outsell the one on top; Netflix. Netflix was a hit because not only did they send Netflix to your home for a decent price but you can also order Netflix to your computer. Netflix is a movie selling sensation. Now, they have not just one, but two major companies forming together to outsell them. This deal might make or break the two companies (Verizon and Redbox) in my opinion because not everyone even agrees with Verizon’s way to do business; so maybe, they might use their bias judgment against not just Verizon but Redbox costumers as well. I find the article very interesting and hope the businesses do very well; we just need more information on them.

Well, I have family who work at Verizon, namely my father. So I hope that Verizon knows what they are doing. Would be a shame if this venture of theirs ends badly. I agree that some of Verizon's practices are sometimes less than sincere, but it's what you get when you compete. I hope that Red Box and Verizon work out and maybe this will lead to a more competitive market where we, the consumer, win. I mean we might even see some more team ups, and some new companies that will survive and help to lower prices or make better deals. Either way it doesn't really matter to me as I don't use either Red Box or Netflix.
ReplyDeleteTayah I think this is a good idea as well because Netflix is a good business already by itself. Version does have their hands in so many things technology wise that would create great opportunities for Netflix to expand as a business. Version provides cable for television it provides internet access and they are a phone service provider, all of which that would be a great way for Netflix to be promoted because they have Netflix movies for obviously TV but also for your computer, and I believe they are working on if they have not already downloadable movies for a person’s iPhone. I had ordered Netflix before and then canceled it just because we didn’t order that many movies but it was awesome while we had it, they had the DVDs out to us within 2 days they did not skip or anything. So if Netflix was to team up with version they would be great together.

Redbox and verizon are too companies that are doing very well right now and are using the on going technology of the world to improve there business. This makes them a great match. I have a verizon phone and I don't have any complaints of the company. Red box's keep popping up everywhere and I have used them a few times.
