Apple settles class-action suit over iPhone 4 antenna problem

IPhone 4 owners will have the opportunity to be reimbursed by Apple for the major reception problem with the phone. The popular IPhone 4 came out in June 2010 and complaints arose immediately about frequent dropped calls. Apple realized that the problem was caused by the location of the antenna which is on the edge of the phone, in order to make it slimmer. Holding the phone in a certain spot would cause it to drop calls. Apple attempted to resolve this problem by offering a free case to all IPhone 4 owners that would protect the antenna and resolve or greatly reduce the problem. Many people did not take advantage of this offer and many lawsuits came up that were all merged into one case. Under the settlement Apple is offering 15 dollars to all eligible customers that can be redeemed online over a 120 day period.
I would be really upset if I bought a new cell phone for hundreds of dollars and I could not hold a conversation on it. I understand the lawsuits that became of this problem. In my opinion, everyone who bought the IPhone 4 should have been upgraded with a free IPhone 4S. I doubt that a case could completely solve the reception problem and what would 15 dollars solve? You would think that Apple would have better business ethics to solve this problem. With the amount of money that people spend to get these high technology phones, they should not have to deal with performance problems. I understand that problems like this can happen but they should also be taken care of much more professionally. It is not like Apple does not have enough money to reimburse their customers. It also surprised me that Steve Jobs said that the problem was just as bad on other phones and did not look to resolve the issue right away. You would think that a company who is competing to take over the technology industry would look to make their products noticeably better than other companies. This would definitely make me and probably many other consumers think twice before I bought an apple product in the future.

I agree with what you say Mike. The fact that the Apple company makes so much many and is so much more advanced then everyone else I dont see why they cant come up with a better plan then a phone case, or 15 dollars. Like you said is a phone case really going to do anything at all. I don't even see how that makes sence to be honest, and the fact it drops calls based on you hold the phone is obnoctious. You should be able to hold a phone how ever you want. Maybye Jobs should have given everyone with and I phone 4 a manual on how to hold the phone. I mean it's not much worse then the idea to give everyone that has an I Phone 4 fifteen dollars. Honestly fifteen dollars, What can you actually by with fifteen dollars these days anyway, nothing from Apple thats for sure, not even a phone case. Getting the phone case is even a better settlement then the 15 dollars. If I had the I Phone 4 and it dropped calls all the time I would ahve a major problem with the company and definatly be looking for my compensation then 15 dollars or a phone case. It seems to me that it is a problem that should have been delt with a lot better by Steve Jobs and the people of Apple. (Nice work SHIVER!!)
