Hi my name is Samantha Corey. I’m a
freshman at Nichols College and I’m from Marlborough, Ma. I’m still undecided
when it comes to my major but I’m looking into History, English and Education. One
of my dreams is to teach over in Africa for a year so I’ll probably find myself
at least minoring in Education. I love the game of field hockey and play for
Nichols. Throughout high school sports and work were what pretty much consumed
my days. I’ve worked for a daycare for about three years now. The daycare is
actually a part of a gym which is very convenient and I love taking advantage of
my free membership. I’ve also worked as a secretary assistant, a hostess, and
for the city of Marlborough painting my high school’s football stadium. I’m
currently not working but since I’ve been at school I’ve come to realize just
how much I miss it.
I've heard many things about this
course. Many people said that it was a very basic class and also very easy. I
myself am alright with computers but I’ll be the first one to admit that I am
not the strongest when it comes to the subject. I believe that being well
educated on how to use different programs on a computer is a very important
skill to have. I think that in the upcoming years the dependence on computers
will only continue to grow and to help better your chances of getting a job, knowing your way around a computer will definitely be an important factor on
your application.
I personally love the city of Boston. There is so much that goes on that there is really never a dull moment. I believe that you can learn so much from the city itself. One blog that I find particularly interesting is called Boston Daily. This blog informs you on all of the latest news out of Boston. Whether it is a study done by Harvard or news from the police, this blog shares numerous current day stories and never fails to keep me interested. This is a credible blog because it's actually reporting news and has links to different news stations websites. I think that this blog is actually very educational when it comes to keeping up with current news about the city.
I definitely agree that the skills we will learn in Digital Applications will be an asset that will help us downt the line when we are all looking for jobs. I like that you chose a blog that's all about Boston. I love the city too and agree there's a lot to be learned. It's important to stay updated about our state's capital and all the news and current events that are happening there. What happens in Boston affects what happens in the rest of Massachusetts. This is a really good source to stay updated.
