Biography and Newsworthy Blog

My name is Sarah Start. I am 18 years old and a freshman at Nichols College. I am double majoring in Accounting and Finance, and hope to add a minor. I have been dance for 14 years and started cheerleading this year. I live in North Brookfield, MA with my mom, two brothers, and my cat named Bailey. I went to David Prouty High School in Spencer, MA where I was a part of the National Honors Society and the Future Business Leaders Club. I also enjoy working out, reading, and hanging out with my amazing boyfriend, Adam. I work at Spencer Savings Bank as a teller during the summer and on breaks. I first worked as a file clerk there for a year and a half. I’m one of the few people out there that actually loves my job.
I hope to learn new skills in different computer programs that I didn’t know before. I like working with computers, so I am hoping this is an easy class for me. I’ve heard a few different opinions about Digital Applications before. I was told as long as I keep up with the work and pass everything in on time that I will definitely pass.
The blog I chose was titled “
The people of the Costa Concordia cruise ship disaster” and was written by CNN’s correspondent, Diana Holden. It was about the recent tragedy that occurred off the coast of Italy nearly a week ago. The ship, Costa Concordia, came too close to shore and hit a rock causing the ship to sink, killing at least 11 people. There are 21 people still missing at this point. Some passengers that survived described the experience like the Titanic and worse. This blog interests me because I am also very interested in the story of Titanic. I think it is interesting to hear about what happens in such a hectic and scary situation and how people handle it. This blog is reliable because it is written by one of CNN’s correspondents and CNN is probably the most trustworthy news sources out there.
